‘Cirencester Singers‘ on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok
Cirencester Singers are a fun, friendly and informal community choir for upper voices based in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.
Take a look at our ‘Cirencester Singers Juniors’ tab for info about our Junior Choirs!
Our adults’ choir have been singing together since 2014 when we were formed by Suzanne Bishop and Amy Garry who wanted to create a relaxed, non-audition singing group for people to come along and sing…no experience required, just a love of singing!
Since 2014 we have put on our own regular ‘showcases’ for friends and family, as well as performing at the Ashley House Care Home, Powell’s School, Graze Cirencester, The Fleece Cirencester, The Phoenix Festival, Cirencester Advent Festival, ‘Musicalea’ near Malmesbury, Cirencester Parish Church and many weddings, funerals and events.
We have wide-ranging experience at singing at private events including charity events, weddings, birthdays and funerals. If there’s something particular you are thinking of we are very happy to talk to you about your requirements and see if we can help! Please see the ‘Bookings’ page for further info.
There is still the option to join us via Zoom if you are more comfortable doing so!
We rehearse every Monday evening during term time at 7:30-9pm (arrive from 7:15pm), at Cirencester Baptist Church (Chesterton Lane). If you’re thinking of joining, please drop in to meet us – and do get in touch if you have any questions.
Our Summer Term begins on Monday 17th April and you can book a free taster here: Free Taster Booking Form
Suzanne Bishop (Founder)

Suzanne founded Cirencester Singers in 2014 after looking for an informal choir that didn’t audition or rely upon sight-reading skills to take part. She founded the choir with Amy in 2014.
Amy Garry (Musical Director & Co-founder)

Amy is our Musical Director and runs Cirencester Singers. As well as leading the choirs, she also teaches singing privately and in local schools. She has loved watching the choir go from strength to strength in its first few years after embarking upon the unknown when setting it up with Suzanne back in 2014!
Russell Blackaller (Accompanist)

Russell is a well-known face in the area, having taught Drama for many years in Cirencester. He now teaches piano and plays in ‘The Curious Little Big Band’ who you can find out more about here: http://www.thecuriouslittlebigband.com/wedding-band-party-music/
And of course…our members!
Our membership includes upper voices of a wide range of ages. We have a range of abilities and experience in the choir, with some members having sung at a professional level and others just starting to explore singing for the first time! The enthusiasm, commitment and friendship shown by our members is what keeps us all coming back and means we have become a strong community over the past few years. We have also been known to organise fairly energetic socials, including going to watch ‘Hairspray’ at the cinema in Barnsley House and adding to the soundtrack ourselves! We have been honoured to perform at many different venues and events including the Phoenix Festival, Cirencester Town Council Advent Festival, School Fetes, Residential Homes, Musicalea, 3 Choirs in Cirencester, and many more.
We were runners up in the Cirencester Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Creative Champions’ Award in 2020, and it gave us a great excuse to get dressed up at home in lockdown!
